In the spirit of Juneteenth, let’s do a fun experiment with fruits, draw a family tree, and see how it’s all connected to DNA!
Supplies for Experiment:
2 strawberries & 1 banana
2-4 plastic bags (resealable, sandwich size)
2 clear plastic cups or glass jars (tall/narrow ones, if available)
1 cup of warm water
2 teaspoons of salt
2-3 teaspoons of liquid dish soap
2 coffee filters or paper towels
1-2 funnels or a strainer
1-2 cups of cold rubbing alcohol (chill in freezer 30 minutes before experiment)
2 toothpicks (or popsicle sticks)
