Gretchen Whitmer Previously Called Abortion: “Life-Sustaining” Amid Pandemic; Kept Abortion Clinics Open
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List today launched a $200,000 ad campaign exposing Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s abortion extremism. The six-figure digital ad-buy just launched will reach 500,000 persuadable voters statewide on Facebook, digital streaming services, and via premium content. The campaign will continue into the new year.
“Governor Whitmer is waging war on commonsense abortion limits that the people of Michigan support. She once called abortion, a procedure that has tragically ended the lives of more than 60 million children, ‘life-sustaining,’” said Prudence Robertson, spokeswoman at Susan B. Anthony List. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, Michiganders couldn’t buy seeds to grow food, but abortion facilities could keep their doors open for abortion on demand after Whitmer deemed it an ‘essential’ service.
“Whitmer’s abortion extremism knows no bounds. She wants to force taxpayers to fund abortion and supports late-term abortions on babies who can feel excruciating pain. Whitmer also wants to remove parental consent requirements so young girls can obtain abortions without their parents’ knowledge. At a time when most Americans want to humanize and modernize our abortion laws, Whitmer’s radicalism is taking Michigan backwards.”
At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Whitmer required Michiganders to delay important medical procedures, deeming them “non-essential,” while allowing elective abortions to continue. This resulted in vital personal protective equipment being used by abortion facilities while nurses and doctors treating COVID-19 patients faced a PPE shortage.
