Script Share

 

Script Share is an opportunity for aspiring writers to engage in a one hour discussion with a theatre professional about a particular script. These conversations are driven by what the writer is hoping to explore, and aim to provide an initial response, perspective, guidance around the craft of playwriting, and further questions, rather than critical feedback. 

Script Share is a free opportunity for playwrights, who are selected via lottery. The lottery is now closed - sign up for our mailing list at the bottom of the page to stay tuned for future opportunities!

Eligibility

This program is intended to serve aspiring playwrights who do not have access to script conversations via other networks; for example, those who are new to playwriting and/or who may not have received opportunities through school or within the industry to develop their writing skills.

If you are selected for Script Share, you will need to have a script ready to share and discuss with a theater professional. Your script can be in any stage of drafting/development for these conversations, but it must be a full draft (a rough first draft is fine, but it cannot be only scenes or pages)!

The Process

  1. Script Share participants are selected via lottery.

  2. Selected playwrights are paired with a theater professional based on availability.

  3. The assigned theater professional reads a script draft provided by the playwright and engages in a one-hour discussion with the playwright.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

  • The background of the theater professionals varies, but they have all been chosen for their experience in the theatre/new play world. Our pool of theatre professionals comes from various communities and backgrounds and includes dramaturgs, literary managers, new play directors and many other types of theater professionals.

  • To make sure that everyone gets a fair shake, we can only accept one entry per applicant. Any duplicate entries will be removed from the lottery pool.

 
 

  • Pairings with theater professionals are made according to availability. When possible, we will try to take any special considerations into account around pairings, but cannot make any guarantees.

  • If you have entered a previous Script Share lottery, you can still submit an entry for the current lottery process. Please note that if you have previously received a Script Share session, priority will be given to those who have not.
