What is it?

The Bell Media Prime Time TV Program is a full-time, 5 ½ month professional TV writing program for emerging to mid-level Canadian writers. This program is recognized industry-wide for training TV series writers and developing new projects for the marketplace.

Program Structure

The program provides a team-based approach to a writers’ room, delivered under the mentorship of an experienced executive producer. Program residents receive “on the job” experience, spending half of the program working on the executive producer’s series, and the other half developing and packaging their own original series.

Eligibility

  • Are self-driven and committed storytellers
  • Are ready to engage in a collaborative comedy series story room
  • Are keen to expand their skillsets and TV portfolios
  • Are eager to establish strong creative and industry partnerships
  • Have some professional writing experience
  • Have a comedy series project and/or slate that is ready to develop
  • Have experience in various forms of writing, or transitioning from other forms of writing such as plays, novels, journalism or video games

Tuition & Fees

Tuition: $8,000 (covered by scholarship)

Tuition is covered by a full scholarship thanks to the generosity of CFC donors. Monthly bursaries while in program and a relocation bursary are also provided. Please visit Financial Assistance for more information.
