Florida growers produce sweet and field corn throughout many areas of the state. Sweet corn is grown mostly for fresh market.
The principal fresh sweet corn production region in Florida is the Everglades Agricultural Area (Palm Beach County) accounting for more than half of the production. The southeastern/southwestern area (Miami-Dade, Collier and Hendry Counties) were responsible for about a quarter of the state’s production in 2017. The west and north area (Suwannee and Jackson counties) account for a minor amount of sweet corn production in the late spring months.
In Florida, there are more than 37,000 acres of sweet corn.
Florida sweet corn is in season in from October to June.
Florida ranks first in the production and value of fresh market sweet corn.
