About the Choir

United Voices Choir membersThe United Voices Choir of West Georgia was founded in 1974 by Reverend Jared Jennings and Dr. O.B. Yates, who saw a need for African American students to have an outlet and more extra curricular activities. The choir gave students a sense of fellowship, worship, and comradery, and has been providing that environment for generations of students.

The choir’s name has evolved throughout the past four decades. Originally, it was named the United Voices Choir of West Georgia, inspired by founding faculty advisor Dr. Yates’ experience in the United Voices of Kansas State Choir. While the name has changed, the sense of bonding that takes place among the members of the Choir has not.

UNITED VOICES CHOIR ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Questions?

In honor of the 45 year anniversary of the United Voices Gospel Choir (UVGC), a tribute scholarship has been established to support current students in their quest for academic excellence at the University of West Georgia. This scholarship endowment will help recruit and retain United Voices Gospel Choir members while supporting the next generation of UWG students along their academic journey. It will help ensure that qualifying UWG students - of whom nearly 40 percent are first-generation college students - have access to the financial support that will change the trajectory of their lives.

Double the impact of your gift: An anonymous donor has pledged to match every gift made to the scholarship fund, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.

Please join us and consider making a tax-deductible gift today to help establish the United Voices Gospel Choir Endowed Scholarship Fund.
