Purpose Med Solutions aims to improve the health and well being of the community by creating programs that factor in both social and commercial determinants of health.

Social Determinants:

Social determinants of health (SDOH) are the conditions in the environments where people are born, live, learn, work, play, worship, and age that affect a wide range of health, functioning, and quality-of-life outcomes and risks.[1]

SDOH can be grouped into 5 areas and are based on research and evidence over several years.

  1. Economic Stability

  2. Education Access and Quality

  3. Health Care Access and Quality

  4. Neighborhood and Built Environment

  5. Social and Community Context

People who have higher levels of economic stability, have access to better quality education for themselves and their children, have access to comprehensive, high quality education, live in safe and healthy neighborhoods, and have stronger social and community support, live healthier lives.

Commercial Determinants of Health:

Commercial determinants of health are described as private sector activities that affect people’s health positively or negatively.[2]Commercial determinants of health impact a wide range of health outcomes including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular health, cancer, road traffic injuries, and mental health. Commercial determinants of health affect everyone, but young people are especially at risk, and unhealthy commodities worsen pre-existing economic, social and racial inequities. They can have beneficial or detrimental impacts on health.
