EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
 
Albany State University will implement a new security policy regulating the size and type of bag that may be carried into basketball games.  This policy will include games in the Jones Brothers HPER Complex and West Arena for the remainder of this season and in future seasons. 
 
The clear bag policy is being  implemented as a way of keeping fans and attendees safer, while also expediting entry into our basketball and football games. This policy limits the size and type of bags allowed into venues, with some exceptions for medical or childcare needs.

The following outlines bags that are permitted:

• Bags that are clear plastic and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12";
• One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar); and
• Small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approximately the size of a hand).
• An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at a gate designated for this purpose.

Prohibited bags include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag; briefcases; backpacks, cinch bags, and fanny packs that are not clear and/or exceed the size restriction; luggage of any kind; computer bags/cases; camera bags/cases; binocular bags/cases or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Fans will continue to be able to carry items allowed into the Jones Brothers HPER Complex and West Arena in a permissible clear bag.  Phones, cameras, tablets and binoculars may be carried separately from a clear bag.
This proactive measure both will enhance safety inside and outside the gymnasiums and speed the security screening process for all fans. The public deserves to be in a safe, secure environment. This is about both safety and improving the overall fan experience.
The following items ARE PROHIBITED:

• Beverages
• Food
• Alcoholic Beverages
• Cans
• Coolers or ice chest
• Thermo/metal bottles
• Bags (not compliant with the Clear-Bag Policy)
• Horns or noise makers
• Laser Pointers
• Any other items deemed dangerous or inappropriate by security or game management

 
PROHIBITED BAGS:

• Backpacks of any type
• Printed pattern plastic bags
• Purses
• Grocery bag
• Duffel bag
• Large tote bag
• Cinch bag
• Diaper Bag
• Colored plastic storage bag
• Any other bags deemed non-compliant by security or game management
