SBU is being considered by the City of New York and the Trust for Governors Island to become the institution that will reevaluate Governors Island. If selected, Stony Brook University will build the New York Climate Exchange which is a marketplace for collaboration to solve climate crisis. (TBRNEWS)

  5. Nearby News: Driver killed in Central Islip head-on crash. Suffolk Police is investigating a fatal head-on crash that killed a man in Central Islip on Jan. 2. A man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on West Suffolk Avenue when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando Cordero, head on in front of 101 West Suffolk Ave. Police said the driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352. (Islip Bulletin)
