SBU is being considered by the City of New York and the Trust for Governors Island to become the institution that will reevaluate Governors Island. 5. Nearby News: Driver killed in Central Islip head-on crash. Suffolk Police is investigating a fatal head-on crash that killed a man in Central Islip on Jan. 2. A man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on West Suffolk Avenue when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando Cordero, head on in front of 101 West Suffolk Ave. Police said the driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352. (Islip Bulletin)
