Friendship Friday

Better together? You bet! The National Park System and the parks, programs, and staff who make up that system are fortunate to have so many friends. During National Park Week, and especially on Friendship Friday on April 23, 2021, join parks and programs as we thank our partners.

Partners can be individuals, groups, or organizations. Partners may be big, small, local, national, emerging, new, or established who may predate their partner park or program. The community of partners includes engaged citizens, passionate volunteers, cooperating associations, concessions, civic groups, or philanthropies all of whom share our mission.

Partner Up for Friendship Friday

Are you a partner? Let's share the good news about what we accomplish together and invite others to join in! Here are a few ideas on how to participate:

• Share your favorite partnership projects (land donation from the National Park Foundation to Petersburg National Battlefield) and accomplishments (partnering to protect the Appalachian National Scenic Trail).
• Do you have a way to encourage visitors to Find Your Virtual Park? Share virtual tours or live online events and let's get together online!
• Let the spirit of friendship inspire you! What great story of friendship or partnership has moved you? The story can come from historic figures, or plants and animals (like the fruit bats at the National Park of American Samoa). Is there a quote and photo that sums up your partnership? Please share them with us!
• Say thank you and have fun with it! Remember, sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. What photo or image best captures your appreciation? Post that to social media (don't forget to tag your friend).
• Friends are friendly. Be sure and tell us how to join in with you! How can people volunteer, donate, or support your good work in other ways? Check out this selection of ways to partner with the National Park Service.
• Where would you most like to bring a friend? What partner site, park site, or program work would you want to explore together? Challenge your audience to share their ideas.
