RESOLUTION Item No. 44
WHEREAS, the Electric Utility Board of the City of Lubbock, Texas, has
requested that Lubbock Power & Light's Holly Avenue Plant be renamed in honor of
Alex "Ty" Cooke;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it be in the best
interests of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to honor the request of the Electric Utility
Board; and
WHEREAS, Alex "Ty" Cooke has given above and beyond the call of duty as a
City Council person enhancing, protecting and promoting LP&L and the cause of Public
Power across the State of Texas;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock also desires to honor Alex
"Ty" Cooke for his many years of dedicated service to the City of Lubbock, and the West
Texas Municipal Power Agency; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT Lubbock Power & Light's Holly Avenue Plant located on the Staten
Highway is hereby named the Alex "Ty" Cooke Generating Station in recognition of the
many years of dedicated public service to the City of Lubbock and its citizens by Alex
"Ty" Cooke.
Passed by the City Council this 25th day of May , 2000.
