End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton’s bill to make Washington D.C. a state:
“Washingtonians are Americans who deserve full representation, self-government and the same rights as citizens living in states. For too long, D.C.’s 700,000 residents, the majority of whom are Black and brown, have served on juries, fought in our military and paid federal taxes without representation in Congress.
“They should not be denied full and fair representation by our government. We wholeheartedly support this bill to make Washington, D.C. a state and join Representative Norton in this fight.”
