Skills Development training for all budgets - Including those who have none.

What is PayWhatYouCan.Training?

It’s an opportunity for you to gain new skills - at a price you can afford,  even if that means free.

COVID-19 has affected so many people in so many ways.  Many have found themselves unemployed, some are working from home.  Even businesses keeping their employees on payroll have had budgets slashed.

It’s left a lot of people with time on their hands, so it's a perfect time to learn new skills.   This initiative makes it affordable by allowing people to pay what they can, if they can, to attend training.

Our audacious goal
100,000 learners in 11 weeks

We’ll need over 150 trainers and a whole lot of administrators.

Who Is It For?

  1. People looking to develop the skills they need, to survive and succeed in a virtual workplace

  2. People whose career has been disrupted by COVID and are looking to move to a different career field.

  3. Companies and organizations who want to provide access to a broad range of learning options, while their employees or members are working from home.

Distribution of Funds Raised

Where Does The Money Go?

A not-so-well known fact is that most instructors are contractors that are hired by the day.  Like you and I, they are experiencing the same financial effects as most of the people attending this training.   Most of the money raised through this campaign will go to them.

This project wouldn’t exist without an entire team of people - web design, web development, PR, marketing and administration.  Some of the money will go towards trying to compensate them.

Note: Supporters are the core team who helped design, develop and launch this project.  We have assigned a value to their contribution which is discounted from the normal cost of their service.  If we raise enough funding through the 30% pool to settle these costs, the proportion to the instructors will be increased.

Who Is Behind This?

This project was conceived by the team at LastMinuteTraining.ca on March 23, 2020.  But it was brought to life by an extended team of supporters:

FAQs

Is this eLearning?
No, this is virtual instructor led training.  Real/Live instructors delivering in real time using virtual platforms.  We like the fact that this allows our participants to actually interact with each other.  Especially during these times of isolation.

What happens if I cannot attend after
I register?
If you cannot attend and you know this in advance of the class please log in to your profile,  find the course you cannot attend under my registrations and hit the cancel button. That will free up the seat for someone else. If you have paid money you can either reach out to us for a refund or take a different class.  If we don’t get a request for a refund we’ll consider that a contribution to the program :)

Do I need a computer and internet
to attend?
You need some kind of connected device that can run the virtual platform.

When will this end?
It is our sincere hope that there is no need for this program after the end of June.  With proper care and physical distancing we can turn the tide of COVID-19 sooner rather than later.  If it turns out we are still in a significant lock-down position past the end of June we will try to continue the program until such time as it is no longer needed.

Can I arrange private training for my company? Yes,  we’d be happy to make arrangements to teach your team.

Can I become an instructor?
Yes,  please reach out to Jeremy on
our team.
Jeremy@lastminutetraining.ca

Is there a minimum contribution?
Sometimes. Please remember that every contribution incurs fees from the credit card processors and adds work to our administrators.  We recommend that if you are planning to contribute less than $ 6.00 that you consider taking the course for free if that is an option.

Can I contribute without taking a course?
Yes,  we have many ways to contribute.  The easiest is to just spread the word to everyone you know.
