6 Big Trends From 2021 Non-Fiction Books (Part 6 of 6) | #endbias

The sixth and final trend in this series is on a fitting theme: bias and how to end it. Multiple times this year, I have is explored the topic first in our Non-Obvious Beyond Diversity Summit and then later this year with my latest book Beyond Diversity co-authored with Jennifer Brown. As we head into the big Longlist announcement for our Non-Obvious Book Awards - these trends offer some context into the biggest themes that we saw all year.

In case you missed them, be sure to go back and read all the previous trends from this series here: Trend #1 | Trend #2 | Trend #3 | Trend #4 | Trend #5 | Trend #6

Systemic racism, wage equity, unconscious bias and taking action to build a more inclusive world continued to be increasingly popular topics for books this year. I wrote my first in this category as well. The range of books and topics covered are diverse, important and worth sharing.

  1. Systems of Bias - How can we end systemic bias that holds people back? These powerful books offer real answers.
  2. Creating Equity - Achieving pay equity, ending workplace bias and making the world fairer are what these books focus on.
  3. Take Action - Going beyond just conversation, these actionable books suggest real solutions to build a more inclusive world.

A Short Note About Buying These Books ...

If you use the links in this post to buy any books, a small affiliate commission will come back to our team. Any funds received will help us cover the costs of distributing books to our charitable partners. While buying from Amazon may be easier, we would suggest considering making your purchase from Bookshop.org - a retailer that often offers better pricing on new titles and donates a portion of your purchase to help keep independent bookstores alive.

All of us at the Non-Obvious Book Awards believe that a world where bookstores survive is a better world. You can be part of helping to make sure that happens!
