MEMORANDUM

Posted: July 28, 2022 02:52 PM
From: Representative David M. Delloso
To: All House members
Subject: PA Opportunity Program

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a major toll on Pennsylvanians. Many individuals experienced unemployment, had to choose between their health and safety and their jobs, juggled work and childcare at the same time, and depleted their savings accounts. On top of that, many families are currently feeling the squeeze of inflation and the rising costs of basic necessities, such as food. As we continue our recovery efforts on the state level, we need to remember that individuals in our communities all across the state are still trying to recover too.

It is time we step up to help Pennsylvanians now. That is why I am introducing updated legislation to create the PA Opportunity Program, which would make direct payments of up to $2,000 to Pennsylvania households. This program, which is expected to help at least 250,000 households across Pennsylvania, is needed now more than ever to help workers and families recover economically from the pandemic and assist them in affording childcare, education and training, and basic household expenses.

Pennsylvanians are resilient, but we need this program now to give families a leg up and ensure no one is left behind. I hope you will join me in supporting this important legislation that will provide immediate relief to so many across our state.

Introduced as HB2765
