Area Description

Located off FM 1794 near the city of Carthage, this site offers approximately 275 feet of river frontage including a single trailer boat ramp.

Special Conditions on Public Use

Access is open from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset for bank angling and launching motorized and non-motorized boats, canoes, kayaks, or other floatable devices for the purpose of fishing. Vehicle and trailer parking by anglers shall be in designated areas only.

TPWD strives to leave our environment cleaner and more natural than when we found it. We encourage and expect all visitors to do the same by taking any trash and recycling out of the access area and properly disposing of the materials.

From Dallas/Fort Worth

Take Interstate 20 east 150 miles to US-59 South in Marshall, Texas. Take US-80 east for about 19 miles, take a left on FM 1794, and look for a boat ramp on the right.

Angling Opportunities

This section of the Sabine River is popular during the spring white bass spawning run. Whites often congregate below the Black Shoals area when water levels will not allow them to continue upstream. Anglers also have success fishing for blue catfish and channel catfish.
