Bama Blitz to Boost UA Passion Projects; Set for April 12-15

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Bama Blitz, The University of Alabama’s annual online fundraising event, will begin at noon April 12 and end at 11:59 p.m. April 15.

Alumni, faculty, staff, students and supporters of UA can help build tomorrow’s legends by giving to one of several unique and impactful passion projects.

Some of the projects include:

a nursing student in crimson scrubs and a face mask shines a light on a dummy patient during a classroom training exercise— Assisting future health care heroes through the Capstone College of Nursing Balance Relief Fund, which helps nursing students facing financial challenges by allowing them to remain enrolled at UA.

— Sending the Million Dollar Band and its 400 members to New York City for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

— Supporting active duty and veteran military service members with a dedicated scholarship fund to help them earn their degrees.

This year, Bryant Bank will match gifts made toward passion projects, up to $50,000. In addition to supporting passion projects such as those listed above, Bama Blitz fosters a spirit of philanthropy across the Bama Nation by encouraging gifts of any size, no matter how large or small.

In 2020, Bama Blitz raised more than $2.15 million, thanks in large part to the total number of gifts — 1,276, most of which were less than $500.

Previous campaigns saw significant boosts from volunteers who served as ambassadors encouraging others to participate. Anyone who wishes to help increase the impact of Bama Blitz is encouraged to sign up to be an ambassador by visiting bamablitz.ua.edu.

Gifts can be made at bamablitz.ua.edu beginning at noon April 12. The website will provide updates about fundraising totals for each passion project, as well as the total amount of money raised for the University.
