CCN Student Balance Relief Fund Featured in Bama Blitz

To ensure financial constraints don’t delay or prevent future health care heroes from earning their degrees, the Capstone College of Nursing established a new program to assist nursing students.

The CCN Student Balance Relief Fund will provide financial aid to nursing students with small balances on their accounts to allow them to continue their education and earn a degree. The fund is CCN’s passion project for this year’s Bama Blitz April 12-15.

“As someone who works with students directly, my goal for the fund is to help our students who just cannot afford to pay a relatively small balance so they can continue on in school,” said Rebekah Welch, director and registrar with CCN’s Office of Nursing Student Services. “I never want a student’s progression to be affected by their inability to pay a smaller balance on their account.”

CCN is a national innovator in clinical simulation in nursing education, utilizing simulators and telehealth technology in teaching, research and health care delivery. The college partners with a variety of well-respected health care facilities to provide clinical experiences that ease the transition into the working world and prepare graduates for challenges after school.

“Bama Blitz gives us an opportunity to highlight an area of concern we have recognized for some of our students,” said Welch. “This is a great Passion Project to contribute to because I can guarantee that the donations we receive will make a difference in the lives of our students.

CCN alumni, supporters and anyone who would like to lend a hand to future health care heroes can do so by contributing to the Student Balance Relief Fund during Bama Blitz. Beginning at noon April 12 and ending at 11:59 p.m. April 15, Bama Blitz directly supports a variety of key projects in UA’s colleges, schools and units.

Welch continued, “To know that your donation led to the ability for our students to graduate from our program is truly worth its weight in gold.”
