About American Society of Addiction Medicine Education

Founded in 1954, the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) is a professional medical society representing over 6,500 physicians, clinicians and associated professionals in the field of addiction medicine. ASAM is dedicated to increasing access and improving the quality of addiction treatment, educating physicians and the public, supporting research and prevention, and promoting the appropriate role of physicians in the care of patients with addiction.

As a partner of the AMA Ed Hub, ASAM offers CME to help health care professionals enhance their professional development and their practice as well as improve clinical care while focusing on the full spectrum of addiction care: prevention, treatment, remission, and recovery. ASAM Education on the AMA Ed Hub features motivational interviewing concepts that can be used in patient interactions. Learn now.

ASAM has been awarded Accreditation with Commendation by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) as a CME provider for physicians. This accreditation seeks to assure the medical community and the public that ASAM delivers education that is relevant to physicians and all clinicians’ needs, evidence-based, evaluated for its effectiveness, and independent of commercial influence.
