Summary

Strong decks are no accident.

Whether you’re a homeowner, deck builder, lumberyard rep or design professional, it’s important to design a safe, strong deck that can be approved by your local building department before construction begins.

To help you meet requirements of Design for Code Acceptance 6 (DCA 6), the prescriptive guide for residential wood decks based on the 2015 International Residential Code, Simpson Strong-Tie invites you to a free, live webinar.

Led by David Finkenbinder, Simpson Strong-Tie branch engineer, and Loren Ross, director of sustainability and energy at the American Wood Council, the webinar guides you through the provisions of DCA 6 and connection solution options. Participants in the live event will have an opportunity to ask questions.

As a result of attending this webinar, you should be able to:

  • Describe the residential building code for decks and the purpose of DCA 6
  • Identify DCA 6 prescriptive solutions for residential wood decks
  • Select connector, fastener and anchoring solutions from Simpson Strong-Tie

In addition, you’ll be able to download Connection Solutions to Meet the DCA 6 Prescriptive Residential Wood Deck Construction Guide (T-C-DCA6DECK21). It’s a new, 12-page companion guide that presents common Simpson Strong-Tie connector, anchor and fastener options to meet the prescriptive requirements of DCA 6.

Continuing education credits will be offered for this webinar. Participants can earn one professional development hour (PDH) or 0.1 continuing education unit (CEU). Contact training@strongtie.com with any questions.
